Sydney food and bars around the city

Chaco Bar, Victoria Street, Potts Point. My new favourite. Great food, yakitori and other Japanese favourites.  Great sake list, really nice ambience and staff.

Oltra pizzas at Central. Chunky squares or chewey circular. Fab vibe and delicious food

Dopa japanese inspired, fresh, well sourced food. Think rice bowl with add on bento. 

Plus maatcha desserts. Original restaurant in Haymarket,  but a few more branches have opened around town. Eat in or delivery.

Mamak, bit of an institution in Chinatown, Malaysian, usually long queues. Don't miss the sweet roti tisu, see below

Tokyo taco Japanese and Mexican mix - fast food in Newtown. Think crunchy mixtures. This is for takeaway

Xopp contemporary Chinese, originally from iconic Chinese restaurant relationship to golden century ie live seafood, but think nicer surroundings. Great as nice place to eat or there are uber eats.

Silks, in Crown at Barangaroo. OMG, all you can eat yum cha. Feels so decadent ordering nearly everything on the menu. Plus food is pretty good

Saint Peters, Oxford street, Paddington.  Specialist fish restaurant, upmarket, celebrity chef. Rather delicious. Counter style seating.

Alexandria pho, rolls, traditional. Fresh, good food. 

Marrickville rolls, bahn mi in Steam lane. Fast food.


Chinta ria in Darling Harbour, great Malaysian, excellent laksa, roti crisp and fluffy

Mamak in Chinatown, also Malaysian, but more stay, curry, roti vibe.  Also always a queue. The dessert roti is delicious.

Miso, for bento boxes, World Square, shop 20/123 Liverpool St, Sydney NSW 2000. They do delivery.

Mine wasn't the full bento. Eel was really tender

Don't tell aunty Indian Surry Hills, but now with chains around town. Contemporary Indian. Probs good vibe for groups.

Sandotchi japanese twist on the sandwich, always people queuing at this place on Oxford Street.  Katsu, bowls and coffee Japanese inspired sandwiches and bowls. Daytime they deliver

Tenacious on Oxford Street,  new way of combining croissant with Korean pastry, mizu and other yummy stuff. Portuguese tart and the cake rolled in matcha with red bean paste. Delish, and I am not a sweets person YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS. See top image

Cash only diner contemporary Vietnamese  such fresh tastes, weirdly they do take cash. Its in the city.

Waratah, new bar on Victoria and Liverpool streets darlinghurst. Restaurant and bar. Food good, air conditioning in some parts. Great local addition to the area.


And

Kahii coffee shop by day and wine bar powered with snacks from Kuro. Its an intimate space, chill vibe

Kelco House, Lobby/364 Kent St, Sydney NSW 2000


Downstairs via an alley is The Burrow  v nice wine bar. They sell food from cash only, so you can combine the two. Bar is intimate, cosy vibe

Chat Thai in circular quay, good Thai food. They handmake some of their dumplings

Superbowl for old school Chinese. I usually get congee. I've never been to the restaurant I just get delivery

Below Cherry Moon, Annandale

The Stinking Bishops, enmore. They do picnic baskets and hampers. Delicious for cheese lovers

Favolo, Newtown  delicious modern Italian. Fish soup is delicious. They bake bread etc

Friggatorria in Kings Cross. Italian good for uber eats,  not as fancy as favolo, generous serves

Amazing vegan high tea. As a non vegan, I was hooked

Vandals vegan taqueria delicious, a little fancy as a non vegan was amazed at how good it tasted. Newtown vegan hipster vibe

Fishbowl consistent decent  poke bowls, a chain for delivery
